We understand that recovery from alcohol addiction and drug abuse is a long-term process that requires the appropriate level of treatment combined with ongoing support. The Recovery Center at Manning Regional Healthcare Center has trusted experts on staff who can provide individuals the right medical care, behavioral therapy and social support to enable a healthy lifestyle free from drugs and alcohol.
Experienced, caring professionals
Recovery Center staff have decades of experience helping individuals break the cycle of alcohol addiction and substance abuse. Because of that, our licensed counselors understand there is no such thing as “one size fits all” when it comes to recovery. We base the treatment, care and support we provide around that principle, always ensuring everyone’s individual needs are met appropriately.
The National Institute on Drug Abuse notes the quality of interaction between a person seeking treatment and his or her treatment provider can have a direct impact on drug and alcohol abuse treatment outcomes. Our licensed counselors not only understand this, they embrace it – by building relationships with each client to better understand who they are and what strategies will best help them reach their drug or alcohol-free goals.
Overall, our expert medical staff has much experience and understands the complex medication needs of the residents treated during their recovery program. For example, staff are highly trained in the process of detoxification. Individuals undergoing this journey are monitored by physicians and nurses who are skilled in this specialty area.
Uniquely located inside a hospital
What differentiates our treatment program from others in Iowa is the fact the Recovery Center is a department within a critical access hospital – Manning Regional Healthcare Center. The full-service hospital moved into a beautiful, newly-built facility in 2014 that features state-of-the-art technology and modern and soothing décor. Confidentiality and strict adherence to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) are required of all staff within the hospital.
While the Recovery Center strives to create a comfortable, home-like environment in its rooms and commons area, residents and families can be comforted in knowing nursing care, laboratory, emergency and medical services and much more are all just a few steps away from our department. Furthermore, Manning Regional Healthcare Center’s staff provide all meals and snacks for residents and is experienced in accommodating individual’s allergy or dietary restrictions.
Evidenced-based treatment plans
The Recovery Center bases treatment plans on evidence-based practices. In layman’s terms, this means we incorporate therapies and strategies that have been proven to have successful recovery outcomes for previous addicts.
We incorporate the 12-step framework and offer different therapies and services to facilitate the recovery process. Our licensed counselors follow best practices by individualizing each treatment plan so that it is specific to you, your needs and your goals.

30+ Year History
While our name and location may have changed over the years, the unwavering commitment of our knowledgeable and experienced staff never has – and never will.
The Recovery Center at Manning Regional Healthcare Center is a 16-bed co-ed chemical dependency facility located in Manning. We have served clients from around the Midwest since 1981 when we were originally known as the SAT (Substance Abuse Treatment) Unit. Years later we changed our name to Manning Family Recovery Center to draw attention to our expansive family support program. After 33 years in a historic hospital on Main Street in Manning, we moved to our present, modern location at 1550 6th Street in 2014. Finally, to simplify our outreach efforts, we shortened our name to the Recovery Center in 2018.
For nearly four decades, we have adapted our treatments to meet the most pressing or newly emergent addiction issues. From alcoholism, to the influx of meth to the abuse of prescription painkillers, our staff have consistently helped clients take their first step toward healthy, drug and alcohol-free lifestyles.
